Veteran Day Delights at Point Isabel

Lapso Apso

Nice Yorkie. Many Yorkies have floppy ears. I have heard that droopy ears tend to have more infections due to moisture. I have not experienced it with my floppy ears though. What is your preference?

Dogs at attention.

What kind of dog is this?

Mini Aussies!

Mini Aussie bums. Did you know herding dogs, like the Aussie, have their tails docked in order to avoid having it stepped on by the animals they were herding? If broken, the tail can get infected, killing the dogs. Hence, docking was for health purposes.

Nice girls playing with me.

Doggies standing with owners in line for food. The Sit & Stay Cafe has a serious delicious hot chocolate. Mommy told me it tastes so good on those chilly days by the ocean.

Obama's New Puppy : Loki Lookalike

The Obamas just received their 6-month-old puppy as a "gift" from Sen. Ted Kennedy. Named Bo, this Portuguese Water Dog has very similar markings to my darling Loki. Bo is pictured below with a lei and Loki is to the right.

Mommy lets me have some yummy Arizmendi pastries if I promise not to beg and stay good until she finishes.

Marielle & Marc with their surfer pups. Yep, dogs surf too and from what I heard, it's a very enviable lifestyle.

Loki's Methods

I've been told many times I'm the friendliest dog people ever met. When mommy first took me to school as a four-month-old, I literally approached every student I saw. Not much has changed as you can see from these pictures. I love attending UC Davis. Go Aggies!

Here I am with my favorite UC Davis staffer, George.

I herd "sheeps" then compel them to pet me.

Sometimes I'll just shamelessly lay on my back and try to act cute for attention.

Mai's Bijou

For several months, my mommy doggie sat the tiniest Shitsu I've even known, Bijou. I call her Mai's Bijou because my sister was also named Bijou. Mai's Bijou was even tempered but for a six pounder, she knew how to stand up for herself. She was mostly sweet but also had a stubborn streak. Unfortunately for her, because she was so cute, mommy tortured her with many picture taking sessions.

Bijou up in a tree.

Fasten up kiddies.

Humping a cute male Havanese. Humping is not always for mating. In this case, it's to show dominance. You'll sometimes see even very small female dogs humping large male dogs to show who's boss. Since I am bigger than Bijou, she would only play with me if I lay stomach down and let her believe she's dominating me. Hey, anything to get her to play.

Ready for a rainy day.

That time of the month. If you didn't already know, female dogs menstruate too. One way to avoid this is to fix your dog as soon as you can. Cutie Bijou is now spayed like me and she's much happier for it.

New Years 2009 at Point Isabel

French Bulldog demanding attention.

Aussies and Collies galore.

Cutie Bulldog.

Maltese mix all smiles.

Wonderful Havanese.

George with one of his favs, the French Bulldog.

New butt buddy?

Lovely Tibetan Terrier.

High five! Kids love dogs as a rule; however, few know how to approach a dog safely. Most will simply boink a dog on its head. Not good. Parents should teach kids to go low, offer a hand from below the dog's face. This allows a dog to smell the kid and trust it.
