Ian Dunbar on dog-friendly dog training

I was watching Ian Dunbar, a professional dog trainer recently. I think he has a lot of valid things to say and does attempt to understand us. However, my only issue is what is considered natural dog behavior. We are pack animals and there is discipline within the group. This can sometimes be a push by the alpha. So, how would Dunbar address that issue.

Over all, I think treating us with love and consideration is really all we want. So, positive reinforcement is welcomed. But, I think structure and consistency also work, especially when the owner is alpha, as mine is.

The "First Dog": Loki Lookalike

In the spring 09 the Obamas received a 6-month-old puppy as a "gift" from Sen. Ted Kennedy. Named Bo, this black/white parti-colored, Portuguese Water Dog has very similar markings to me. Bo is pictured to the left in front of the white house and I'm to the right with my "summer cut."

Watch this informative and touching episode of the Dog Whisperer about puppy mills. My sister Bijou was most likely from one of these puppy mills but my mommy did not know it at the time. I'm from an out of state licensed breeder. She got to talk to my vet and everything before I was flown to her. We support adoption.

Gorgeous Yorkie - Danny

Mommy took me to Berkeley Marina this weekend to fly kites. That's where we saw the cutest yorkie ever, Danny. I was so smitten with Danny, I could not resist nibbling on his ears. His parents were so excited about how well we got along, they let Danny off his leash in public for the first time! We played tag for over an hour and drank more water than I have in my life.

Mommy said Danny reminds her of the sister I never saw, Bijou. Mommy asked me if I would like a brother like Danny. I immediately said yes! Let's hope Mommy is serious about that.

Loki and Friends

Beo and Xeo love taking care of me when mommy is away. They chase me a lot and I end up seeking shelter with their mommy, Chau. Though crazy, I never bore of these "puppies."
